Hi, I'm Erika! 👋

I'm a Canadian ESL teacher based in Dongtan with over 8 years of experience teaching in Korea. I specialize in creating classes that are engaging, encouraging, and most importantly, actually fun.

From little learners discovering phonics to executives polishing their professional English, I tailor every session to your goals.

About Me

Teaching is my superpower.

I'm originally from British Columbia, Canada, and I've called South Korea home for over 8 years. My background in psychology, English, education, and theater means I bring creativity and genuine curiosity into every lesson. I love understanding how people think, and I use that to help every student unlock their potential.

I've taught across every setting: English kindergartens, international high schools, hagwons, Samsung Multicampus, and corporate boardrooms. I founded Maple Speak to offer something more personal, a space where students feel truly seen and supported.

My earlier career in crisis support and family advocacy taught me active listening, patience, and trauma-informed communication, skills that quietly shape every class I teach. I'm also a Korean language learner myself (KIIP Level 2!), so I know exactly how it feels to push past a language barrier. 🙌

For ages 3 to 6. Play-based phonics through songs, stories, games, and themed activities. We build strong reading and speaking foundations in the most joyful way possible.
